The great thing about GSM, (other than it's the global standard for mobile voice carrier) is that with a SIM card you have the ability to "test" other phones that are on the market. I had the opportunity to test the Nokia 8801. At 4.73 ounces and made of steel it's a beautiful phone.
It's got a great sound quality and feels really good in your hand. I equate the feel of this unit equivalent to signing your signature with a Mont Blanc pen. The only catch is that, just as a Mont Blanc pen, which depending on your preference retails from $120 to over $400+, the 8801 can be purchased at Neiman Marcus for about $800. In this case I would say it's well worth the expense, if money isn't that big of an issue.
Nokia has a great strategy with their new phones in that they're making them a fashion statement. The 8801 may not be an everyday phone and I didn't have the opportunity to test some of the other features at the Nokia store, but with a removable SIM card you can change your phones like you change your socks (or throw them away if you have the greenbacks to afford this fashion statement).
Quality phone, I gotta have it!
That is a really good review. It does look like a cool phone. Nice blog.
