I was done giving them my money at the end of last year by not renewing my season tickets for this season, but actually was kicking myself after they rebuilt their defense. After building a decent secondary, I was a bit disappointed that I gave those seats away. But, alas, they didn't disappoint after all. They've got to be the worst performing football team in recent memory. In the first 5 weeks they were able to score 5 times and their recent loss to Chicago just put me over the edge.
I'm not a fair weather fan by any stretch of the imagination. I never once booed our team and even trained my section (mostly by telling them they're loser for doing so) not to boo their own team as well. So rather than showing up this season to rant and boo like the rest of the Metrodome, I decided to stay home and watch the game.
I could have lived with bad coaching and even worse playing, but what put the nail in the coffin for me was the off field behavior. I live by lake Minnetonka, I race sailboats out of the Wayzata Yacht Club, I bring my family out to the lake. My way of life was defiled by the Vikings. There are just certain things you don't do. Having a public sex tour of the lake is one of them, especially if you're a seasonal visitor. Most of these guys don't live here. To top it off, they stopped their limo in a neighborhood by the lake and formed a piss line in someones lawn; in broad daylight before the cruise. She was appalled!
As a life long fan, I hope they don't win another game this season. They're an embarrassment on the field (I can live with that) and a disgrace off the field (that did it). And no, it wouldn't matter if they were winning at this point.
Good luck getting that stadium now...I say move the team.
