I'm Done with the Vikings!

Minnesotavikings3I was done giving them my money at the end of last year by not renewing my season tickets for this season, but actually was kicking myself after they rebuilt their defense.  After building a decent secondary, I was a bit disappointed that I gave those seats away.  But, alas, they didn't disappoint after all.  They've got to be the worst performing football team in recent memory.  In the first 5 weeks they were able to score 5 times and their recent loss to Chicago just put me over the edge.

I'm not a fair weather fan by any stretch of the imagination.  I never once booed our team and even trained my section (mostly by telling them they're loser for doing so) not to boo their own team as well.  So rather than showing up this season to rant and boo like the rest of the Metrodome, I decided to stay home and watch the game.

Love_boatI could have lived with bad coaching and even worse playing, but what put the nail in the coffin for me was the off field behavior.  I live by lake Minnetonka, I race sailboats out of the Wayzata Yacht Club, I bring my family out to the lake.  My way of life was defiled by the Vikings.  There are just certain things you don't do.  Having a public sex tour of the lake is one of them, especially if you're a seasonal visitor.  Most of these guys don't live here.  To top it off, they stopped their limo in a neighborhood by the lake and formed a piss line in someones lawn; in broad daylight before the cruise.  She was appalled!

As a life long fan, I hope they don't win another game this season.  They're an embarrassment on the field (I can live with that) and a disgrace off the field (that did it).  And no, it wouldn't matter if they were winning at this point.

Good luck getting that stadium now...I say move the team.

10 People I'd like to have lunch with

I had a conversation with an old friend (over lunch) that led to the question: Who would you like to have lunch with more than anyone else?  We ruled out dead people and Jesus...Here is what I came up with.

  1. (Sir) Richard Branson:  Who wouldn't, but for me this is the person I want to meet and have a one hour lunch with more than anyone on the planet.  I would ask him how he did it and how he keeps doing it over and over again.  How many CEO's do you know have a fan club???
  2. George W. Bush:  Whatever your politics, he's the most honorable man to hold office since Ronald.
  3. Dennis Prager:  Talk show host I respect more than any.  He's got great insight into god, media and current events.
  4. Lance Armstrong: Don't even need to explain that one.
  5. Tiger Woods:  I don't play much golf anymore, but I do think it would be interesting to speak with him for a bit.
  6. Bo Peabody:  Remember Tripod?  Yeah, that guy.  I read the book and since I recently started my own company I do have some questions.
  7. Ann Coulter: Fire and brimstone.  I'd love to have a rant with her.
  8. Matt Drudge:  It's a bit unfair to put him this low on the list, but he would be my "new media" numero uno.
  9. Marc Benioff:  Just to apologize to him for minimizing his Salesforce.com product and choosing Siebel all those years ago.  He's on the right track and is one of the "new" visionaries.
  10. Bill Gates:  Who wouldn't want to meet Bill.  He's the reason we're all doing what we're doing.
